4-H Livestock Auction

Our 4-H Livestock Auction provides youth a unique learning opportunity through the 4-H Market Animal Project. 4-H members participating in a market animal project learn how to raise a high quality product (beef, hog, lamb, or birds) for the consumer, as well as important business skills such as financial management; marketing; and record management. The 4-H member tracks expenses, income, and the profit/loss of their project. Support from buyers who purchase a 4-H market animal project is crucial to the sustainability of this program.

  • Purchasing a locally produced animal
  • Secured processing date with 3 processors to choose from
  • You choose which cuts of meat you would like
  • Transportation is provided (for a small fee) to each of the processors
  • Quality fed and raised animal
  • In-person or absentee bidding options
  • Option to resell the animal at Finger Lakes Livestock Exchange
  • Names of buyers are promoted in several different ways

Our 2023 event was a record breaking year with auction sales totaling over $256,000. More than $100,000 went to local charities.
