Statistics have shown that nearly 90% of car seats may be used or installed incorrectly. Attend a Child Passenger Safety Seat Check event where nationally certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians provide parents and caregivers with one-on-one, hands-on training and education in the proper use of their child’s safety seat. Learn whether you have selected the proper restraint for your child and if it is properly used and installed. Parents/Caregivers will also be provided with education regarding how and when to safely transition their child into the next stage of safety restraint. Monthly events are scheduled at various locations across Livingston County and parents/caregivers are encouraged to bring their child/ren with them to the inspection. Events are free and open to the public.
NOTE: Parents/caregivers seeking assistance in obtaining a child safety seat through our low-income distribution program should contact Barb Sturm at the CCE Livingston office to schedule an appointment. To qualify for assistance, individuals/families must meet income guidelines for public assistance programs (i.e. SNAP, WIC or Medicaid) and be a resident of Livingston County. Proof of income is required. Appointments will take 60-90 minutes and the child must be present to receive a seat. Expectant mothers seeking assistance must be in their last trimester of pregnancy. The program is subject to availability of grant funding.
Free; Open to the public
