This course is intended to provide students with a basic level of understanding in the challenging field of child passenger safety (CPS). The curriculum is based on the guiding principles of “Learn, Practice, Explain” so that upon successful completion, the Technician Candidate will be able to explain installation procedures to parents and caregivers and help them to safely transport their child based on the child’s age, weight, height, physical development, and needs. To become certified as a CPS Technician, Technician Candidates must register for this course online, pay the course fee, and attend the entire course, which includes participating in class discussions and hands-on activities, passing all skills evaluations and open-book quizzes, and attending the checkup event.
Participants must also attend the February 24th (9am-3pm) event at the NYSDOT in Geneseo. See separate calendar listing for more information.
